Immunising older Australians: Pre-COVID-19 vaccine perspectives from general practice training

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Immunisation uptake in Australian older adults is suboptimal. General practice registrars are responsible for a significant proportion of immunisations this age group and also the process developing patterns practice. Despite their role, little known about general registrars' attitudes towards immunisation adults, barriers faced, role supervisors play adult skills. METHOD: This was qualitative study involving semi-structured interviews with purposively sampled from around Australia. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. RESULTS: The five key themes grouped terms perceptions in immunisation consultation barriers, health system managing vaccine hesitancy, team approach to vaccination. DISCUSSION: Vaccine positivity an important attitude cultivate within environment as it has impact on registrar behaviour. Immunisation-skilled nurses could training immunisation. Findings present may be useful improving elderly context COVID-19 rollout.
